Blackboard Décor

Hey friends! Happy Sunday. It has been a few days since I last posted. We’ve been getting in some family time before the school year begins. We are down to just a week left before we get back to work. We are so fortunate to have this time together as a family.

I thought I’d get on here today and show you how I use blackboards around the house. You may have noticed that they have seemed to be popping up in all of the décor sections of your favorite stores. Some of you may be wondering “why the heck would I want a plain chalkboard sitting on a table or hanging on the wall?” My reason for loving them is because they are completely customizable and so simple to update with the seasons, holidays, or just because!

Now, I don’t know about you, but I have terrible handwriting when I use chalk. This may be another reason for some of you to avoid buying chalkboard pieces for your home. I have a solution! I bought a chalk marker. You can purchase one {here}

It is similar to a paint marker if you have ever used one. In fact, I’m not sure how it is any different. Except that it erases very easily with water and a cloth.

The chalk marker makes it really simple to create anything you want on your blackboard. It is easy to write with and the bright white “ink” makes everything look extra fancy. There are tricks to getting the perfect image on your blackboard, but most of the time freehanding works just fine!

Currently, we have a blackboard in the guest bathroom:

We also have one in my sitting room:

We have one more that will go in our master bedroom, but until we paint that room, I refuse to decorate it! I am considering putting a blackboard in the kitchen. I’ve seen several Menu Boards that I would love to recreate..or maybe I’ll put one near my coffee station!
